I went to Longwood Gardens, the old DuPont estate, this weekend for their Orchid exhibit. Of course they had all sorts of flowers in bloom inside and I’ve posted a few. The dragon is a part of a new children’s garden that was recently added. It was a fun trip and smelling plant-life so strongly in early March made me anticipate the coming spring all the more.

I took this panorama from a train bridge following hurricane Irene in August (don’t worry, the trains were down that day). You can see the water is up to the top of the bar where I usually sit at one of my favorite breweries in the area. It’s even more impressive than it looks when you think that the usual water level is 15 feet below the floor of the deck, of which you can only see the top of the railing.

A picture of a wonderful sculpture outside of Thomas Jefferson University. I took this handheld, using a point-and-shoot (Canon S90), which explains the slight camera shake resulting from the long exposure at night. I want to go back with my Canon 60D and a tripod one night and retake this picture properly.

The annual lighting of the Christmas tree in center city Lancaster, which happens to be a very exciting time for anyone that loves the Tuba. Often called Tuba Christmas, the tree lighting is accompanied by an all tuba band playing classic Christmas music. It’s a sight to behold.

Some pictures from our trip to Maui. It got a bit cold and wet through the middle of the week, but there were some beautiful views.
